How will this new regulation affect me?

The new regulation will only allow students three attempts to successfully complete a course. If the student fails to receive a passing grade after three attempts, they must petition in order to try one more time.

I already took a course three times, does this mean I have to petition in order to take the same course during the Summer 2012 semester?

How do I find out if I took a class three times already?

The best way is to check your academic history on WebAdvisor. A good rule of thumb is if the course you wish to repeat is listed on your academic history, it counts as an attempt.

What are the criteria to take a class the fourth time?

Students must demonstrate one or more of the following:

• • The student was not able to complete the course the third time due to extenuating circumstances beyond the control of the student.
  • The student needs to complete the course for state mandated training for employment purposes.
  • The course is defined as a repeatable course as defined by Title 5.
  • The course is required through the disabled students program.
  • A significant lapse of time has occurred since the student last took the course.

What happens if I already took a class four times?

You will not be allowed to take the course within the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District.

I was forced to withdrawal from a class due to military orders, does this count as an attempt?

No, withdrawals due to active duty military orders are considered a military withdrawal and do not count as one of the three attempts.
