Windows 10 Rollout Plan

Good news! Our new District Dell desktop computers are now delivered with Windows 10 and Office 2016 installed.  Windows 10 provides the District with the opportunity to substantially improve our security.  Modern security threats such as personal data mining, malware, ransomware, and others continue to become increasingly complex to mitigate.  The new computers will provide a higher level of protection against these security threats.

In addition, TCC (Technology Coordination Council) and our IT Security Work Group are adopting industry best practices that will help keep our computer systems protected. Staff and Faculty computers will continue to run District standard and vetted software, but will have reduced access to install potentially threatening 3rd party software. Additional information is available regarding installation of software on your Windows 10 PC and Windows 10 training.

We will work closely with both Grossmont and Cuyamaca ICS (Instructional Computing Services) departments and our faculty/early adopters on the process of facilitating software installations on Windows 10.

Converting all districtwide Windows 7 desktop computers to Windows 10 is an immense deployment project. We will continue to work closely with the colleges and district technology committees throughout the process.
