SOFTWARE FOR HOME USE for FACULTY AND STAFF

MICROSOFT SOFTWARE

Office 365 Pro Plus for education is a subscription-based version of Microsoft Office. It is free to currently employed faculty and staff of Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District.
Each person’s license is for install on up to 5 computers (PCs or Macs, laptops) PLUS up to 5 mobile devices (tablets or other mobile devices). You’ll need Windows 7 operating system or later, or Mac OS X version 10.6 or later to successfully run Office 365 Pro Plus on your PC or Mac.

Office 365 Pro Plus is installed on the local computer. It is not web-based like Office 365 Online. Once it is downloaded and installed, users do not need to be connected to the Internet to use it. However, users must connect to the Internet at least once every 30 days on each device to maintain status of their subscription. Otherwise the software goes into reduced functionality mode.

Office 365 Online is a component of Office 365 Pro Plus with limited feature web apps. After you have signed up for Office 365 Pro Plus, you can access Office 365 Online by logging in this site: https://login.microsoftonline.com/ . If you have saved documents on OneDrive (in the cloud), you will be able to access them from the Internet.

To download Office 365 Pro Plus go to https://products.office.com/en-us/student/office-in-education?tab=teachers

Microsoft recommends installing the 32-bit version, even on 64-bit systems because it is more compatible with the applications and add-ins that work with Office.

Upon termination of employment and removal of your GCCCD email account, you will be prompted to pay a license fee to Microsoft or the software goes into reduced functionality mode.

Reduced functionality mode means the user can read and print a document, but cannot make changes to it or create a new document.

Note: As an alternative, you can still purchase WAH (Work at Home) media from the Foundation Site: http://store.collegebuys.org. This is the same software as Office 365 Pro Plus. This license can be installed on two machines while you are employed by Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District.
